Homeyra, a prominent Iranian singer of traditional, pop and fusion styles, whose original name is Parvaneh Amir Afshari, was born on February 25, 1945 in Tehran. She began her activity in music arena in 1965 and lived with Parviz Yahaghi, a prominent Iranian composer for eight years. Homeyra left Iran at the end of the 1980s and eventually moved to California after emigrating to several different countries, where she resumed her artistic career.
