Gholam-Hossein Banan is undoubtedly one of the most prominent singers of Iranian classical music. He was born in Tehran in 1911 and died in 1985. He was the founder of the Iranian Music Association, a professor of singing at the Tehran Conservatory of Music, and a member of the Radio Music Council. Many memorable songs from Banan are still whispered and repeated by the people.
